About the programme
World Voice is a global British Council Schools/Arts programme which supports young people to develop musically and contributes to wider learning through songs. The British Council in Jordan launched World Voice Programme in partnership with UNRWA in 2014. The World Voice teacher training programme in Jordan targets mainly English language teachers of lower-elementary stages (as a main target group for the early stages of programme implementation) with the view of expanding to teachers of other subjects/levels as per need identified by UNRWA.
Over the timeline of the programme, British Council appointed five Master Trainers who took the responsibility to cascade the learning and knowledge among students and teachers inside their schools. In 2017, British Council extended its programme and entered in partnership with Finn Church Aid in Jordan. British Council trained Syrian teachers who are music teachers on using singing techniques as part of World Voice programme. World Voice was used as a tool of music therapy in informal educational projects in Zaatari and Azraq camps.
