Role overview

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities: the business of building trust and understanding between nations. The British Council’s office in Jordan is one of over 100 worldwide. It was established 65 years ago as the second overseas office and remains one of our most important operations today.  

We work in three key areas: Arts, English and Education & Society, with a focus on young people. The themes of ‘employability’ and ‘voice’ cut across all the work we do: 

Employability – to support young people to achieve the education, qualifications and skills needed to maximize their potential in their future careere. Voice – to create and develop new networks and platforms to give young people a voice in society.

The British Council is developing a comprehensive media action plan that will take a more proactive approach to creating effective relations with the media. We aim to raise our profile as a leader in the field of cultural relations and educational opportunities and to be seen as the partner of choice in Jordan. 

We plan to implement a number of activities that will require media promotion and coverage through a range of channels. 

Brief description of services required:

Fixed Core services 

1. Co-plan British Council`s Media plan for 2014-2015 

2. Attend British council major events to conduct interview and compose stories/articles 

3. Draft  bilingual press releases (English and Arabic) for agreed events with a minimum of 1 press release for each event 

4. Coordinate local and international media coverage (print newspapers, radio, TV etc.) according to the media plan 

5. Organise interviews with TV channels and radio stations to promote events 

6. Strengthen British Council’s relations with  the media and support updating of media contact lists  

7. Monitor and provide monthly reports on PR campaign

8. Produce media reports on monthly basis. 

9. Produce success stories for external and internal publication.

10. Organise press conferences 

Fees: JOD 250.00 per month for fixed services, extra charge for additional outputs delivered upon agreement and fees as per table below.
