Two Flagship Partner Schools Forums Focused on Equipping Teachers and Leaders to Meet the Needs of Today’s Diverse Classrooms.

Amman, Jordan – 23 September 2025: More than 500 teachers and school leaders (250+ teachers, 200+ school leaders, representing 112 Partner Schools in Jordan) came together at the Mövenpick Hotel, on 8–9 September for the British Council’s flagship Partner Schools Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Forum and Leaders’ Conference. This year’s theme: ‘Bridging the Gap: Leading Schools Across Generations’ addressed one of education’s most urgent challenges: preparing Gen Z and Gen Alpha learners for the future.

Building on the momentum of last year’s forums, which gathered 450 participants around the theme of wellbeing and safeguarding, this year’s events grew in scale and ambition, reflecting the strong demand for innovation, collaboration, and professional growth across Jordan’s Partner Schools network.

A Platform for Collaboration

Opening speeches were delivered by Alex Lambert, British Council Country Director Jordan, and H.E. Philip Hall, British Ambassador to Jordan. They were joined by senior voices from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UK awarding bodies (Cambridge, Pearson, and OxfordAQA), and Edraak - Queen Rania Foundation.

Teachers’ CPD Forum – 8 September

The CPD Forum welcomed more than 250 educators and featured a keynote on experiential learning by Nura AlNajjar, Senior Donor Coordinator at the British Embassy.

Workshops covered topics from responsible use of AI in classrooms in collaboration with Abwaab, to inclusive pedagogy, exploratory action research, and professional presence for teachers, delivered by expert trainers. The day concluded with certificates and awards recognising teacher excellence across Jordan’s Partner Schools.

Leaders’ Conference – 9 September

Over 200 principals and school leaders attended the Leaders’ Conference, which included sessions on:

  • Leading with Understanding: Engaging the Gen Z Student Voice – David Lazaro, Director of Edraak, Queen Rania Foundation,
  • Fostering Professional Credibility – Andreea Pulpea, Teacher Trainer and TSP Mentor, British Council and
  • Updates from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research by Mr. Muhannad Al Khatib, Counsellor to HE the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research and Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit

The conference also launched applications for the new Students Counselling Committee cohort, giving young people a stronger voice in shaping the future of education.

Alex Lambert, Country Director Jordan, British Council, said: ‘These forums are more than annual gatherings, they are a catalyst for change. The growth from last year shows the power of collaboration, and we are proud to help shape classrooms that empower young people in Jordan and beyond.’

Why It Matters

Jordan’s schools are navigating unprecedented change as Gen Z and Gen Alpha learners bring new expectations to the classroom. By convening these forums, the British Council is:

  • Equipping educators with practical tools they can apply immediately at their schools
  • Strengthening collaboration between ministries, schools and international partners
  • Building leadership capacity to prepare students for an AI-driven, interconnected world

Looking Ahead

Both the CPD Forum and Leaders’ Conference have now become cornerstone events in Jordan’s education sector, reaffirming the British Council’s commitment to expanding professional development across Jordan and MENA, ensuring Partner Schools are ready to meet the challenges of generational change and digital transformation.
