Book your test at an official IELTS test centre

We are pleased to announce that from 8 February 2026, all IELTS tests will be delivered on computer, providing a faster, more efficient and streamlined testing experience. IELTS on computer offers the same test format, questions and scoring as IELTS on paper. IELTS on computer also provides significant benefits to test takers at no additional cost:

• Faster results: Typically receive your results in 1-2 days.
• Faster booking: Book your test as late as one day before registration closes.
• More test dates: More choice and flexibility for you.
• One Skill Retake: Retake just one skill, not the whole test, if you need to improve your score.

Choose how to take your IELTS test and book online

You can take your test at one of our official test centres on a computer. All you need is a valid identification document and a bank card if you want to pay online.

You can also take IELTS Online (IELTS Academic only) from the comfort of your home or any private space with a stable internet connection.

What you need to book

1. Make sure you have a form of valid ID (Passport or Jordanian National ID card if you are applying for IELTS and Passport only if you are applying for UKVI and Life Skills) at hand, as you will need to upload a clear photocopy of it when you book your test. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place.
2. For IELTS for UKVI, you can apply online (above).
3. Pay for your test. You can pay for your test either through our online registration system or via bank transfer.

Make sure to include in the Reference section of your payment your application reference which starts with JO001- OR S-JO001-.
4. Once you have made the payment, please send us the payment receipt with the rest of your registration documents to  info@britishcouncil.org.jo 

After you have booked your test

You will receive emails confirming:

• the start time of your test and the venue address
• your Speaking Test date

• your access to the free online preparation courses: Road to IELTS Last Minute Version and IELTS Ready: Premium.
